BROW LIFT

Aging and sun damage is inevitable, and the effects take a major toll on the forehead and eyebrow areas. Increased skin laxity causes the eyebrows to drop and wrinkles to form, resulting in an aged and tired appearance. After just one week following a brow lift to combat the effects of aging, you can return to looking and feeling your best. A brow lift restores the volume of the forehead to eradicate wrinkles, while tightening the lax skin, resulting in a younger appearance.

BROW LIFT | In Detail

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure in which small incisions are made behind the hairline, and the forehead skin is pulled upward. Because the incisions are hidden, the effects of the brow lift are not evident. The forehead muscles and tissues are relocated upwards. This process eliminates forehead wrinkles by tightening the skin to produce a younger and rejuvenated appearance. Depending on the patient, excess fat tissue can be removed to balance the face. The eyebrows are lifted so the patient looks more youthful and happy.

A temporal brow lift is another option to produce a more rested appearance. This type of brow lift targets the lateral corners of the eyebrows. Two longer incisions are made above the temples, which targets and lifts the tissue of the outer corners of the brows. Because each type of brow lift is a minimally invasive procedure, it typically can be performed under local anesthetic. The healing process takes about 2 weeks, but patients are able to resume normal activity after about 1 week.

Wondering what the difference is between a facelift and a brow lift? A facelift targets regions of the midface, including the neck, mouth, cheeks, and jowls. A brow lift only targets the forehead and eyebrow region. Both procedures are often used in conjunction with one another. It is best to schedule a consultation to see what type of surgery is best for you and your aesthetic goals.

Surgical brow lifts have instant results that last up to 10 years. Although surgery is permanent, aging effects will eventually still occur. If you aren’t ready for a surgical approach, there are other ways to improve lax skin and eyebrow wrinkles through dermal fillers. Botox/Dysport fillers relax the forehead muscles so that they don’t appear to pull downwards, while also filling in fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers typically last 3-6 months and require no downtime or recovery.

Although aging affects all of us, there are ways to tackle the process. A brow lift will leave you looking more rested and rejuvenated. The procedure leaves little downtime and no evident scarring. Whether you choose a surgical or nonsurgical procedure, the results will restore your natural beauty with a more youthful appearance.

BROW LIFT FAQs

How do I know if I am a good candidate for a brow lift?

If you feel as though your eyebrows are being weighed down and there are prominent forehead wrinkles, then you might benefit from a brow lift. The surgery will alleviate the weight of the lax skin, as well as eliminate your forehead wrinkles, leaving your forehead feeling rested and looking youthful.

Will there still be aging effects after the procedure?

Although the surgical procedure is "permanent", aging effects will still occur. The brow lift will slow down the aging process in the forehead region and delay aging up to 10 years. Keep in mind that although the aging effects will still occur, you will still look years younger than your age.

If I've had a hair transplant, am I still able to get a brow lift?

Since the incisions of a brow lift are made about the hairline, they may slightly damage some of the grafts. Because the incisions are small, the damage to the grafted hair is not detrimental.
